Well so much for the loss of Mike Maroth from the rotation having a huge devastating effect on the Tigers starting pitching. Zack Minor allows only a single run in the ninth inning while throwing a complete game five hitter. Minor is demonstrating he belongs in the major leagues. He is now 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA. He walked only two Brewers and struck out five. All the while only needing 84 pitches to complete the game.

Meanwhile Detroit’s offense experienced a power surge to support the young right-hander. The Tigers bombed four home runs including two by Magglio Ordonez to put up double-digit runs. Maggs ended up with four RBI on the evening and both Pudge’s and Monroe’s homers were two run shots. Monroe added a sac fly for a three RBI game and Curtis Granderson drove in the other run with a double. Detroit scored more runs (10) than they had hits (9) off the Milwaukee pitchers. The Tigers are now 28-10 on the road, which stands as the best road mark in baseball.

*** OEs 3 Stars of the Game ***

#3 Craig Monroe – 1-3 with a run scored, a HR and 3 RBI
#2 Zack Minor – Win (3), 9 IP, 5 Hs, 1 R, 2 BBs, 5 Ks, 2.08 ERA
#1 Magglio Ordonez – 2-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 HRs and 4 RBI

On Tap – Game 73 (48-24) @ Milwaukee Brewers (35-37) June 21st, 2:05 ET
Nate Robertson (7-3, 3.43) v. Chris Capuano (7-4, 3.30)
