Wow, not many Royals fans around here. I know the last few years have been rough, what with three 100-loss seasons in the last four years. Despite that, the Royals are still my boys. I'm hoping they can surprise some people this year. The additions made in the offseason should improve the team. I like our new infield with Mientkiewicz and Grudzielanek joining Berroa and Teahen. I think those two veterans on the right side will really help out our younger players on the left side, and our young pitchers. With Elarton and Redman in to pitch some innings, our bullpen shouldn't get overused. And the lineup appears to be improved too. I don't expect to catch the defending champion White Sox this year, but I do expect some improvement and hopefully a chance to compete in 2007 or 2008 when Billy Butler and Alex Gordon work their way onto the team.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a displaced Royals fan, now located in Indianapolis. No ML team here, but there is the AAA Indianapolis Indians (farm team for the Pirates, I believe; it used to be Milwaukee, but I think it changed last year), who have a very nice minor league stadium. I try to get to as many games as I can, and usually make a couple trips to KC every year to see some games at the K.

Welcome aboard, Neoprene!!! Unfortunately, the Royals won't be able to compete with the White Sox because it's hard nowadays for small-market teams to compete with the big ones without a salary cap. But, despite this, K.C. did improve their infield like you said. The pickup of Reggie Sanders ( #3 ranked outfielder on playertrack.com ) should help as long as he stays healthy. The future is definitely looking brighter for the Royals.

Welcome aboard neoprene! I respect the fact you are a Royals fan. That is cool! It takes some courage to say that! I cheer for the small market teams because I am one of those people who thinks that the Yankees need to be overthrown & extracted from baseball.

Hey Neoprene:

Hopefully, you can help to bring more Royals' fans to the site. I am looking forward to reading your blog through the season.

And, yes, I agree... I look forward to watching what Reggie Sanders will do this year.

/take THAT, Jaydawg!

What's up Neoprene,

Welcome to the land of Baseball Geeks. Glad to see a fellow AL Central fan on the site and in particular a Royal's fan. As a Tiger's fan I look forward to a friendly rivalry. No matter their record KC always seems to have Detroit's number and win the season series. It should be interesting to see which of our teams will triumph and take 4th in the division. This year I have confidence it will be the Tigers, but the Royals should be improved and make the best division in baseball even better.

Wow,

A Real Royals fan. Good for you. Stay loyal to your team. Does Bo still play the outfield? Just kiddin' man. I can't say I like them or hate them, but I really like David DeJesus. I am dying for him to just have a breakout season. I drafted him in two leagues in the late rounds hoping it will pay off.
