U.S. must win their match against the South Africans today and they must not let the South Africans score... a win by the U.S. will result in a three way tiebreaker.

The second tiebreaker, applicable here, is runs allowed per number of innings.

Right now, the U.S. is probably 6-8 runs allowed ahead of the Canadians...

If the South Africans pull out this game, the U.S. is out. Also, if the U.S. allows a ton of runs (even with a victory), they could still be out.

So far so good, though. Clemens gets the South Africans out in the bottom of the first 1-2-3, and the U.S. scored 4 runs in the first, including a 2 run shot by Jeter.

I should also add... ESPN and others are reporting that the U.S. need only beat South Africa to move on.

Not true.

If the South Africans score 15 runs, we go to the next tiebreaker. If the S. Africans score 16, the U.S. is out.

Of course, this is incredibly unlikely, but ESPN and others should at least be accurate.
