The second tiebreaker, applicable here, is runs allowed per number of innings. Right now, the U.S. is probably 6-8 runs allowed ahead of the Canadians... If the South Africans pull out this game, the U.S. is out. Also, if the U.S. allows a ton of runs (even with a victory), they could still be out. So far so good, though. ESPN and others are reporting that the U.S. need only beat South Africa to move on. Not true. If the South Africans score 15 runs, we go to the next tiebreaker. If the S. Africans score 16, the U.S. is out.
